Discussion Questions

1.   C.S. Lewis writes of anxiety that "gnaws like fire and loneliness that spreads out like a desert, and the heartbreaking routine of monotonous misery, or again of dull aches that blacken our whole landscape or sudden nauseating pains that knock a man’s heart out at one blow . . . If I knew a way of escape I would crawl through the sewers to find it" (The Problem of Pain, p. 83). Do you agree with Lewis?  Why or why not?

2.   Have you ever experienced any "cracks" in your faith? How did you respond?

3.   What are the four areas that Peter challenges us to conform our lives to Scripture?  Discuss the benefits of each imperative.

4.   Why do we chose to disobey these imperatives at times?

5.   How can your Christ Group hold you accountable and encourage you to conform to Scripture?

6.   How do you struggle to obey these imperatives? What role does faith play?

7.   Read Jeremiah 2:11-13.  What does repentance look like for a person who abandons the "fountain of living waters?"

8.   What four promises does Peter challenge us to "cash in" on?  How will these promises help you this week in the Christian race?
